FIRE CLASSIFICATION

  1. Fire caused by combustion of solid materials, mainly of organic origin, which normally burn under production of embers, e.g. wood, paper.
  2. Fires caused by combustion of liquids or materials that liquify e.g. petrol, benzene, tar, alcohol, oils, fats, stearin, paraffin.
  3. Fires caused by combustion of gases e,g. methane, propane, hydrogen, acetylene, natural gas, city gas.
  4. Fires caused by combustion of metals e.g. aluminium, magnesium, lithium, sodium, potassium and their alloys.
